The Poetry Distillery is The Poetry Barn’s literary journal. Established in 2018, we harvest a diverse sampling of some the most exciting poems generated in our community, working closely with our authors to distill their poems to perfection as an extension of the workshop process.
Submission Guidelines
The Poetry Distillery publishes poems sown in the Poetry Barn's workshops and events. In your submission, please tell us how your poem is connected to the Poetry Barn.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please withdraw your poem if it has been accepted by another publication.
Submit just one previously unpublished poem per month as an attachment to your email to: hello@poetrydistillery.com
Acceptable attached filetypes are .rft, .doc or .docx
Allow up to one month for response before inquiring as to acceptance status.
If your poem is accepted, we will notify you requesting a bio and confirmation that the poem has not been placed elsewhere.
After the above is received, we will publish your poem as soon as possible, generally within two weeks.
We do work with authors, whenever possible, on continuing to refine poems as an extension of the workshop process. If we feel your poem is close to publication we will work through one revision cycle and then make a decision regarding publication based on the new draft.
Thank you for understanding that time does not permit us to make changes to poems that we have accepted.
We encourage those poems that we feel aren’t yet aged to perfection to be revised and resubmitted after one month's time.
We ask that you wait one year after having your poem published to submit a new poem for consideration.
We receive exclusive rights to publish your poem online for one year, after which time you are free to publish your poem elsewhere online. You are always free to publish your poem elsewhere in print.
