Screech Owl Blues
Screech owl sings in the early morn,
moon’s gone home, and I’m all alone
Her tremelo trills high to low,
shivers souls, rattles old bones
She sings, heartbreak don’t leave me now
I’m needin’ this sorrow to seed tomorrow
Takes that ache to shake me down
Ain’t no queen, ain’t got no crown
Screech owl sing me into hollow holes,
make night quiver till dawn unfolds
Screech owl sing me into rising sun
Can’t do this livin’ dark and undone
She sings, heartbreak don’t leave me now
I’m needin’ this sorrow to seed tomorrow
Takes that ache to shake me down
Ain’t no queen, ain’t got no crown
Screech owl sing me into rising sun
Can’t do this livin’ dark and undone
Can’t do this, oh no, can’t go on alone
Can’t do this livin’ dark and undone
